Why Game of Thrones Is the Number 1 TV Show

Why Game of Thrones Is the Number 1 TV Show

Have you ever wondered what is the number 1 TV show? Game of Thrones is the best thing on television since the Big Bang in the beginning. As far as popularity and ratings are concerned, Game of Thrones has easily became the number 1 TV show no matter how you slice it. Here's why.

You see, people subscribe to HBO solely to watch the fantasy TV show. Moreover, the show is sensational. It's so sensational that it has become a part of popular culture. Whether we are talking American vernacular or British jargon, everyone is familiar with dragon eggs by now.

Game of Thrones means the world to HBO. George R.R. Martin has built an ironclad brand. Plus, the producers are cash-cows to the cable TV network. We haven't seen anything quite like Game of Thrones in the history of TV. What other show is setting records in the seventh season? That's unheard of. I believe the show's secret is the introduction of new characters and the elimination of old characters.

HBO recently stated the channel's intellectual property had been compromised in a cyberattack and hacking. Material from Game of Thrones was released on the world wide web ahead of schedule. It seems scenarios such as these are becoming commonplace. Before HBO, Netflix was hacked. Before Netflix, Disney was hacked.

It is interesting that Game of Thrones is becoming more and more popular. I believe Emilia Clarke's portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen is a major reason people watch. Emilia Clarke is a fine Hollywood actress, who fascinates the audience.

I love Game of Thrones because fantasy has always intrigued me. I grew up loving J.K. Rowling and the Lord of the Rings. Game of Thrones is a current inspiration to me and millions of others. Along with watching the TV show, I encourage you to read the books. See firsthand why Game of Thrones is the number 1 TV show.

Who's Your Favorite? Favorite 5 Female Comedians

Comedy is an art form and comedians are artists. Let's appreciate the art of these fine female comedians. They work hard on honing their craft. That's why it is important we recognize their contributions. Without further ado... here are my favorite 5 female comedians

5.
Tina Fey is my number 5. She would have ranked higher if she were more active. Where are you, Tina? Fans are waiting for another 30 Rock. Still, you can't take away from her genius. The former Saturday Night Live player holds all the cards. Have you seen her American Express commercials?

4.
My number 4 is Margaret Cho. It's a shame that she doesn't get enough recognition. Cho knows how to push your buttons. Her comedy has you on the edge of your seat. Over the years, Margaret Cho has undoubtedly perfected her craft. Have you seen her music videos? Check out this blog post.

3.
Whitney Cummings belongs at number 3. She is the best comedy writer on this list. If I were writing about comedy writers exclusively, she would be number 1. Did you know she is the key to the success of 2 Broke Girls? That show is a part of American culture. As you can see, Whitney Cummings directly impacts pop culture.

2.

At number 2 is Iliza Shlesinger. She is an underrated comedian. It's about time she got her own TV show. Hook her up, Comedy Central. The standup girl is one of the best standup comedians on this list. Iliza is a natural at making people laugh.

1.
Amy Schumer takes the number 1 spot because she is a workhorse. This list had to include her on top. She's always making movies and doing standup specials. I recently saw Snatched. I haven't seen Trainwreck, but I hear it's hilarious.

Who's your favorite female comedian? Chime in your comments.

The Irony of Binge-Watching Orange Is the New Black Season 5

The Irony of Binge-Watching Orange Is the New Black Season 5

I hope you had an amazing 4thof July. I hope you saw fireworks, ate barbecue ribs, and didn't have to work. If you did have to work, I hope you received holiday pay.

I decided early 4th of July to binge-watch Orange Is the New Black (OITNB) season 5. Late at night I find myself binge-watching episodes of OITNB. I fall asleep until Netflix asks me if I want to continue watching. Who else does that?

Do you lose quality when you binge-watch? Or does the director intend on you binge-watching? That's why Netflix releases 13 episodes at once. Anyway, I'm impressed by season 5 so far.

Orange Is the New Black sucked me in and absorbed my attention like a sponge for three straight episodes. It felt like being in a night class that's scheduled for four hours. By the third hour, you need a break. And that's when I dozed off around 4:30 in the morning.

How ironic is it to watch, essentially women behind bars, on the 4th of July. You're watching people without freedom, on America's day of celebrating freedom. It's all too real. Then, I remember they're just actors. Piper Chapman's real name is Taylor Schilling. And Laura Prepon is that girl from That's 70 Show.

The first episode of season 5 rehashed the OITNB's characters lives before prison. If this is your first episode seeing ever, you won't be totally lost. I recommend binge-watching season 3. Then 1, 2, and 4. It's true what they say, the third time's the charm. Try it and let me know how it turned out for you.

As I was binge-watching the episodes, I thought about how a hacker threatened to release OITNB to the masses if Netflix didn't pay a ransom. Then I thought about how a similar situation happened to Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. Finally, I came to the conclusion that it's ironic they're hacking intellectual property centered around state property and private property. Just when I began thinking it's a bad world, I remember it's funny too.
